Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at the workplace is one of the serious issues being faced by many organizations. In the year 2013, to support POSH, the “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act“ was passed in India.
According to this act, any organization with more than 10 employees must implement this law. The law states that these organizations must have an Internal Complaint Committee with a woman heading it. Also, it is the responsibility of the organization to train their employees regarding the act.
“The Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act of India mandates every organization to define their sexual harassment policies, prevention systems, procedures and service rules for employees. This courseware helps participants identify the various types of sexual harassment and recognize behaviors that may be considered inappropriate. “The module will help organizations educate employees on what is deemed sexually offensive conduct. This is an essential and important step towards the reduction of corporate liability as well as to maintain a professional work environment.”
What Is This Prevention of Sexual Harassment Training all about?
As per the Constitution of India, “equality of status and opportunity” must be secured for all the citizens. With improved access to education and employment, more and more women are entering the workforce every day. But sadly, almost 60% of them face sexual harassment at work every day. Sexual Harassment is a gross violation of women’s rights to equality and dignity. Not only is it an infringement of women’s fundamental rights, but it also results in the loss of workplace motivation and productivity. It is considered a strong form of violence against women. Did you know this? A safe workplace is a woman’s legal right. The courseware is an interactive session with the lesson objectives divided into two phases:
