They should keep the organization’s welfare and progress as the top most priority when they take up the issues, concerns and grievances of the employees with the management.
They should have a higher degree of honesty, integrity, transparency, humility, & gratitude.
They should possess vital skills like communication & presentation skills, negotiation skills, leadership skills, meeting etiquettes, & corporate etiquettes.
They should possess a high level of emotional stability without resorting to impulsive outbursts and immature ways of dealing with the situations.
They should exhibit persuasive, convincing and influencing skills dealing with employees & demonstrate a ‘Win-win’ attitude while communicating and dealing with the management.
Basic Leadership Skills: Leadership styles, competencies required for leading and managing teams, learning to use flexibility in leadership to meet a variety of needs, understanding the role and responsibilities of Union Leaders.
Developing Positive Mindset: developing a positive mental attitude to direct and guide employees in a positive direction, developing assertiveness and self-confidence while dealing with the employees.
Effective Communication & Etiquettes: Developing effective communication, presentation and public speaking skills, developing affable manners, etiquette, behaviour and politeness, developing good interpersonal relations with the management with team spirit and synergy.
Workplace Health & Safety: Comply with safe work practices, with the intent of avoiding injury to themselves and others and damage to plant and equipment, encourage employees to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) & clothing in the company premises, and report all accidents.
Collective Bargaining: Settle disputes and conflicts amidst the parties, strengthen and maintain cordial and harmonious relations amidst management and workers, protect the interest of both the parties involved in the discussion, arrive at a decision or settlement which is mutually beneficial, and encourage industrial democracy.
Conducting and Attending Meetings: Conducting meetings with employees, attending meetings with the management with an open and optimistic mind; Meeting etiquette; Speaking objectively (issue-based); not taking things personally; Inculcating ‘Win-win’ attitude.
